The 16GB DDR3 1600 MHz RDIMM Memory Module from QNAP has been designed for their ES1640DC 16-Bay NAS Enclosure. This single buffered memory module has a clock speed of 1600 MHz PC3-12800 a 240-pin DIMM form factor and uses 1.5V. This memory may be to upgrade the RAM in the ES1640DC which is equipped with dual controllers. Each controller has access to three memory slots which is broken down into two slots for the main system memory and one slot for the write cache. Each slot supports a maximum of 16GB so each controller supports 32GB of main memory or 64GB total as well as 16GB of write cache per controller or 32GB total. All in all the ES1640dc can utilize six of these chips for a maximum memory amoutn of 96GB.
